SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV) -- Alex Herbert (Monrovia, MD/Urbana HS) rushed 26 times for a game-high 166 yards and a touchdown to lead Shepherd College to a 29-0 win over WVU-Tech in the season finale in the 39th Annual Civitan Bowl at Ram Stadium.

Shepherd opened the scoring with 8:18 left in the second quarter on a one-yard plunge by Herbert.

The Rams took an 8-0 lead into the break when Ramal Faunteroy (Washington, DC/Parkdale HS) dropped Tech quarterback Phll Reed in end zone for a safety with 3:02 remaining in the half.

Travis Lynch (Ridgeley, WV/Frankfort HS), playing in his final game for the Rams, scored on a one-yard run with 7:47 left in the fourth quarter to give the Rams a 15-0 lead.

Shepherd increased its lead to 22-0 when Jesse Correll (Port Republic, MD/Calvert HS) scored on a 17-yard reverse with 7:11 left in the game.

Lynch, who ran for 65 yards on 20 carries, added a five-yard scoring run with 4:38 left to close out the scoring.

The Shepherd defense was led by redshirt-freshman defensive lineman Andre Henderson (Glen Dale, MD/Eleanor Roosevelt HS) with seven tackles including five solos. He also had three tackles-for-loss (15 yards), a sack, and a fumble recovery.

Senior defensive back Matt Meadows (Romney, WV/Hampshire HS) and senior linebacker Chad McClintic (Williamburg, WV/Greenbrier East HS) each had interceptions. Meadows became only the is fifth player in school history to record 20 interceptions or more in their career.

Herbert earned Civitan Bowl Most Oustanding Back honors, while Henderson was tabbed the Civitan Bowl Most Outstanding Lineman.

Shepherd completes the year at 4-6, 4-3 in conference play, while Tech finishes at 3-8, 2-5.
