2003-04: Was expected to contend for starting center spot before being sidelined with an injury.

2002-03: Scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds in three games before missing the rest of the season due to injury.

Prior to SC: Redshirted at University of Maryland. Was a four-year letterwinner for legendary coach Morgan Wootten at DeMatha High School. As team co-captain, Slaninka helped lead DeMatha to a consensus No. 9 national ranking as a senior while coming off the bench.

Personal: Born 10-26-81. The son of Rick and Mary Slaninka. A 2000 graduate of DeMatha High School, Slaninka is majoring in sports management.
