SHEPHERD FALLS TO WESLEYAN
BUCKHANNON, W. Va. -- Shepherd College dropped a doubleheader to West Virginia Wesleyan in WVIAC softball action on Wednesday at Wesleyan. The Bobcats took a 13-1 win in game one and added a 14-2 triumph in the nightcap.
Rayner Balciunas went 3-for-4 and Ashley Blandford went 3-for-3 to lead the Bobcats. Jennifer Canby (Martinsburg (Wheeling Jesuit)/Martinsburg, WV) went 2-for-3 for the Rams, while Beth Vickers (Jefferson/Kearneysville, WV) blasted a solo home run for Shepherd's only run. Wesleyan starter Danielle Salmons limited the Rams to five hits while striking out 10 to pick up the win. Megan Hall (Randolph-Henry/Keeysville, VA) took the loss for the Rams. Cory Karcesky limited the Rams to four hits in a 14-2 Wesleyan win in the nightcap. Karen Burnette (Tabb/Yorktown, VA) suffered the loss for Shepherd. Balciunas went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI, while Blandford was 3-for-5 with five RBI. Shepherd falls to 6-17, 4-14 in WVIAC play. The Rams continue on the road to face Davis & Elkins on Thursday with doubleheader action starting at 2:00 p.m.
