SHEPHERD SPLITS WITH CHARLESTON

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. -- Shepherd College split with the University of Charleston in WVIAC softball action at Shepherd on Monday. The Rams took the opener with a 7-5 victory, while Charleston rallied for a 9-3 win in the nightcap.
Shepherd starter Christee Anderson (Martinsburg/Kearneysville, WV) went the distance scattering eight hits to pick up her first win of the year. Anderson recorded eight strikeouts and yielded only two walks. Krystal Brown took the loss for the Golden Eagles. Carrie Cline (Central/Edinburg, VA) went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI and Jennifer Canby (Martinsburg (Wheeling Jesuit)/Martinsburg, WV) added a 2-for-4 effort with a pair of RBI. Cline's two-run double in the sixth inning lifted the Rams to the 7-5 triumph. Brown went 3-for-4 with three runs scored to lead the UC attack. Amber Snyder went 2-for-3 with four RBI to lead the Golden Eagles in the nightcap. Her two-run double keyed a four-run fourth inning for UC. Snyder allowed only two Ram hits to pick up the win. Karen Burnette (Tabb/Yorktown, VA) suffered the loss for the Rams. Canby and Burnette each had singles for the Rams. Shepherd moves to 6-15, 4-12 in WVIAC play. The Rams will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to West Virginia Wesleyan for a 3:00 p.m. doubleheader.Game One
