RAMS SWEEP TECH

Christee Anderson tossed a three-hitter in Shepherd's 8-0 win over WVU-Tech.

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Shepherd College swept WVU-Tech, 8-0, 15-6, in WVIAC softball doubleheader softball action at Shepherd.

Christee Anderson (Martinsburg/Kearneysville, WV) fired a three-hitter for the Rams in the first game. She also added a career-high eight strikeouts. Jill Little took the loss for the Golden Bears.

Vickie McGilton (University/Morgantown, WV), Amanda Fleming (Hancock/Hancock, MD), and Amanda Butts (Musselman/Gerarrdstown, WV) each had two hits to lead the Rams in game one. Fleming had a team-best three RBIs, while McGilton was the only Ram to score twice.

Shepherd erupted for 13 first-inning runs in game two en route to a 15-6 triumph. The Rams smacked nine hits and took advantage of four Tech errors. Shea Sirbaugh (Berkeley Springs/Berkeley Springs, WV) and McGilton each had two-runs doubles to highlight the big inning.

Sirbaugh, McGilton, Mara Kafton (Martinsburg/Martinsburg, WV), and Jessica Sturgill (North Harford/Whiteford, MD) each had a pair of hits to pace the Rams in the nightcap.

Ram starter Becky Porter (James Buchanan/Chambersburg, PA) (1-0) picked up the win with relief help from Shannon Smiles (Williamsport/Hagerstown, MD). Tech starter Nichole Cochran suffered the loss.

Shepherd improves to 4-1, 2-0 in conference play. The Rams will host WV Wesleyan next Saturday in doubleheader action at 1:00 p.m.
