McDANIEL SWEEPS SHEPHERD
WESTMINSTER, Md. -- McDaniel College swept Shepherd College in softball action on Wednesday afternoon at McDaniel. The Green Terror earned a 12-0 win in game one and rallied for a 4-3 victory in nine innings in the nightcap.
McDaniel pitcher Samantha Abrams limited the Rams to two hits and added eight strikeouts to gain the win in the first game. Ram starter Megan Hall (Randolph-Henry/Keysville, VA) took the loss. Candice Kuglikowski led the Green Terror 12-hit attack with a 2-for-3 effort with a home run, four RBI, and two runs scored. Carrie Cline (Central/Edinburg, VA) and Christee Anderson (Martinsburg/Kearneysville, WV) each had hits for the Rams. Cline went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, and two RBI to pace the Rams in the nightcap. Beth Vickers (Jefferson/Kearneysville, WV) was 2-for-4 with a run batted in. With the game tied at 2-2, Shepherd scored a run on the top of the eighth to take a 3-2 lead. McDaniel answered back with a run in the bottom of the eighth and the game-winner in the ninth to edge the Rams. Jan Geiman had three hits and Kuglikowski added two to lead McDaniel to the win. Kim Camponelli tossed a complete game win for the Green Terror, while Karen Burnette (Tabb/Yorktown, VA) went the distance and suffered the loss for Shepherd. Shepherd falls to 2-5, while McDaniel improves to 6-3. The Rams return to action on Friday when they host Bluefield State at 1:00 p.m.Game One
