SHEPHERD SWEEPS GLENVILLE

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. -- Shepherd College swept Glenville State in WVIAC softball action at Shepherd on Friday. Shepherd won game one with a 13-5 triumph in six innings and took the nightcap with a 12-3 win in five innings.
Shepherd starter Karen Burnette (Tabb/Yorktown, VA) went the distance scattering nine hits to pick up her third win of the year. Julie Watson took the loss for the Pioneers. Sara Rosboschil (Hayfield/Lorton, VA), Jennifer Canby (Martinsburg (Wheeling Jesuit)/Martinsburg, WV), and Brooke Small (Herndon/Herndon, VA) each had two hits to lead the Rams in game one. Crystal Marvian and Jenny Campbell each went 3-for-4 to lead Glenville. The Rams plated four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to end the game. Mara Kafton's (Martinsburg/ Martinsburg, WV) two-run double highlighted the inning. Shepherd took advantage of 12 Pioneer walks en route to victory in the nightcap. Megan Hall (Randolph-Henry/Keysville, VA) scattered five hits and did not allow a base runner over the final two innings to gain her second win of the season. Amanda Wayne suffered the loss for Glenville. Canby went 1-for-2 with a two-run, inside-the-park home run to pace the Rams in the nightcap. Canby led the team seven runs scored on the day, while Rosboschil added six. Marvian led the Pioneers in game two with a 2-for-3 outing, including a triple. Shepherd improves to 5-14, 3-11 in WVIAC play. The Rams will complete their home schedule on Monday when they host Charleston in doubleheader action at noon.Game One
