The Rams earned the win in the seventh as sophomore April Przygocki (Frederick, MD/Frederick HS) walked, moved to second on a sacrifice, and scored on an infield error.
Senior pitcher Karen Burnette (Yorktown, VA/ Tabb HS) tossed a two-hitter and fanned four as she improved to 3-3 on the year. Becky Vance struck out nine and allowed only one hit in a losing cause for Davis & Elkins.
Shepherd used a 10-hit attack en route to a 8-0 win in the nightcap.
With a 1-0 lead, Shepherd plated three runs in the third to extend its lead to 4-0. Senior first baseman Brooke Small (Herndon, VA/Herndon HS) had an RBI-single and two more runs scored on an outfield error.
The Rams added a run in the fourth when Sims doubled, moved to third on an error, and scored on a passed ball.
Freshman second baseman Rebekah Walsh (Wyomissing, PA/Holy Name HS) smacked a two-run double to highlight a three-run fifth for the Rams and ended the game early on the eight-run rule.
Small went 3-for-3 and Sims added a 2-for-2 effort to lead the Rams.
Junior Mia Zappacosta (Owings Mills, MD/McDonogh HS) went the distance for the Rams to improve to 4-3. She fanned four and scattered three hits. Carrie Egress took the loss for the Senators.
Shepherd improves to 9-10, 3-1 in WVIAC play, while Davis & Elkins drops to 6-6, 0-4. The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Shippensburg for a 2:00 p.m. doubleheader.
