RAMS SWEEP BLUEFIELD STATE

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- Shepherd College swept a doubleheader from Bluefield State in softball action at West Virginia Wesleyan on Friday afternoon. The Rams took both games by identical 8-0 scores.

Christee Anderson (Martinsburg/Kearneysville, WV) fired a one-hitter in game one, while Becky Porter (James Buchanan/Chambersburg, PA) tossed a two-hitter in the nightcap. Anderson recorded eight strikeouts and Porter fanned three.

Amanda Fleming (Hancock/Hancock, MD) hit a pair of home runs in game one to lead the Rams in game one. Fleming blasted a solo shot in the fourth inning and followed with a two-run blast in the fifth. Vickie McGilton (University/Morgantown, WV) added two hits and also drove in three runs.

Mara Kafton (Martinsburg/Martinsburg, WV) stroked two hits and added three RBI to pace the Rams in the nightcap. Chrissy Ashley (Loudoun Valley/Lovettsville, VA) added two RBI.

Shepherd improves to 16-13, 10-8 in WVIAC play. The Rams continue on the road to face Alderson-Broaddus on Saturday in a noon conference doubleheader.
