SHEPHERD WINS FIRST-EVER PRESIDENT'S CUP PRINCETON, WV -- The West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference office announced today that Shepherd University has earned its first-ever President's Cup for all-around athletic excellence for the 2004-05 academic year. West Virginia Wesleyan won Commissioner's Cup honors. Conference titles in football and men's tennis keyed the award for Shepherd. The President's Cup is awarded to the school that has the highest average score for sports sponsored within the WVIAC. Points are awarded based on finishes in the regular season of each sport. Scoring of WVIAC sports is a reflection of the number of teams participating for that championship. "We are very proud of our student-athletes and the programs in which they participate," stated Shepherd University President David L. Dunlop. "I am very proud to be associated with the group of young men and women who represent Shepherd through our athletic program," added Shepherd athletics director Karl Wolf. "I also thank them for their service to this University and for winning the President's Cup this year." 2004-05 President's CupPos. School Sports Score 1. Shepherd 11 9.36 2. WV Wesleyan 17 8.65 3.
