PIRISINO EARNS DISTRICT II ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA HONORS
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. --Senior outside hitter Kim Pirisino (John Carroll/Edgewood, MD) of the Shepherd College volleyball team was named today to the 2002 Verizon Academic All-America College Division District II Volleyball Team. The team is selected by members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). She earned third team honors.
Pirisino, who recently gained first team WVIAC All-Conference as well as WVIAC All-Tournament honors, helped lead the Rams to a 29-10 mark. Shepherd fell to eventual conference champion Wheeling Jesuit in the semifinal round of the tournament. Pirisino carries a 3.24 grade point average in Art Education. The District II region includes Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
