EXCELLED ON THE GRIDIRON FOR THE FOOTBALL TEAM FROM 1977-80, HELPING GUIDE THE RAMS TO A FOUR-YEAR RECORD OF 29-13 (.690) AND TWO BERTHS IN THE COAL BOWL.

BECAME THE FIRST OFFENSIVE LINEMAN AT SHEPHERD TO BE NAMED A FIRST-TEAM ALL-AMERICAN IN 1980 AND WAS ALSO A THREE-TIME FIRST-TEAM WVIAC ALL-STAR AS A CENTER.

CHARLIE HELPED LEAD THE WAY FOR GREGG WARFIELD AND WAYNE WILSON, THE TOP TWO RUSHERS IN SCHOOL HISTORY.

CONTINUED TO SHOW HIS LOVE OF ATHLETICS AS A FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL COACH AT THE HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE LEVEL.
