SHEPHERD MEN'S TENNIS COMPETES AT GREAT LAKES REGIONAL

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- The Shepherd University men's tennis team competed in the 2006 NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Great Lakes Regional  at North Central High School over the weekend.  Shepherd was one of 16 teams participating in singles and doubles. The Ram highlights came mostly in the consolation brackets where six Shepherd players earned victories.

Singles "A" Draw, First Round: Casey Moser (SU) d. Craig Baas (Lake Superior State) 6-0, 6-1. Simon Laliberte (Lake Superior State) d. Arthur Ebeling (SU) 6-4, 6-0. Andrew Reznak (Southern Illinois - Edwardsville) d. Jesse Humeas (Shepherd) 6-2, 6-2. Second Round: Adam Sandusky (Grand Valley State) d. Moser 1-6, 6-4, (10-7).  Consolation:  Ebeling d. John Esterle (Bellarmine) 6-3, 3-6, (11-9). Ryan Diebold (Grand Valley State) d. Humeas 6-1, 6-3.

Singles "B" Draw, First Round: Alex Brewer (Indianapolis) d. Andy Bosco (Shepherd) 3-6, 7-6, (10-7).  Second Round: Tom Rastall (Indianapolis) d. Scott Hasenei 6-4, 6-1. Bobby Sisson (Shepherd) d. Felipe Rojas (Indianapolis) 6-3, 6-3.  Quarterfinals: Alex Switzer (Grand Valley State) d. Sisson 6-2, 6-4.  Consolation: Hasenei d. Werner Henning (Indianapolis) 6-3, 6-3. Scott Cheng (Bellarmine) d. Bosco 6-4, 6-1.

Doubles "A", First Round: Akshay Chellappa-Corey Banghart (Ferris State) d. Casey Moser-Felipe Oliveira (Shepherd) 8-5.  Consolation: Moser-Oliveira d. Scott Cheng-David Royer (Bellarmine) 8-5.

Doubles "B", First Round: Ebeling-Sisson d. Bryan Sulcer-Ryan McDaniel (Southern Indiana) 8-5. Michael Sarno- Steve Fox (Findlay) d. Bosco-Hasenei 8-4. Quarterfinals: Alex Switzer-Matt Globerson (Grand Valley State) d. Ebeling-Sisson 8-3. Consolation: Bosco-Hasenei d. Brewer-Henning (Indianapolis) 8-3.
