SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Matthew Amato scored on a feed from Conor Bradley to lift No 11-ranked West Virginia Wesleyan to a 1-0 win over Shepherd College in a key WVIAC men's soccer matchup here on Tuesday afternoon.
Shepherd, ranked ninth in the Great Lakes Region, gave Wesleyan, the second-ranked team in the region, all it could handle.
Kevin Cole (Jefferson/Kearneysville, WV) recorded eight saves in goal for the Rams, while Jorge Geddes registered four saves for the Bobcats.
Shepherd falls to 8-5-0, 1-3 in conference play, while West Virginia Wesleyan improves to 12-2-1, 6-0.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Charleston, the sixth-ranked team in the region, at 1:00 p.m.
