SHEPHERD MEN'S SOCCER WRAPS UP SPRING SEASON

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- The Shepherd University men's soccer fell to Big East Division 1 power Georgetown University on Friday, 3-1.

The Rams took the lead in the 20th minute when Guilherme Fonseca beat the Hoya goal keeper with a 20-yard shot from the top 18-yard box. He was assisted on the play by Nahome Mazenga.

The Hoyas tied the game and took a 3-1 lead going into the half. Both teams played to a scoreless tie in the second half.

"This was a very good outing for us," noted head coach Joseph Okoh. "We really played well and controlled the game for the most part in the second half against a team from one of the toughest Division 1 conferences in the country (Big East). I am very proud of how the guys played today and it is a promising sign of things to come."

The Rams closed out their spring season with a 1-1 draw against the Alumni team which featured the several All-WVIAC performers who were part of the Ram graduating class of 2006.

The Alumni team roster included the likes of Ian Newman, Jamie Ritchie, Jose Ventura, Sean Holland, Robert Pence, Pat Quinn, Donald Fon, Jason Amaguana, Kris Goodwin, and Ryan Quinn.

"It was a good game, said Okoh. "The alumni team was very competitive today and we had a lot of fun. Judging from the quality of play, its clear to see that our program has truly come a long way."
