SHEPHERD MEN'S SOCCER DOWNS UPJ, 3-1

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Sophomore midfielder Guilherme Fonseca (Guaraja, Brazil/Objetivo School) scored a goal and assisted on another to lead Shepherd University to a 3-1 win over Pitt Johnstown in men's soccer action at Shepherd on Tuesday afternoon.

Fonseca opened the scoring at the 7:32 mark with an assist from freshman midfielder Pat Norfolk (Olney, MD/Sherwood).

Shepherd increased its lead to 2-0 when freshman forward Gregory Khan (Mt. Pleasant, Tobago/Bertille St. Clair) scored on a feed from sophomore forward Emmanuel Elomobor (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook).

Pitt Johnstown cut the Ram lead to 2-1 at the 40:00 mark on an unassisted tally by Chris Hawkins.

Sophomore Baboucarr Njie (Banjul, The Gambia/Marina International School) and freshman Anthony Pino (Centreville, MD/Queen Anne's) each had a save for the Rams, while Craig Neff had three stops for the Mountain Cats.

Shepherd improves to 4-4-1, while Pitt Johnstown falls to 3-3-0. The Rams return to action on Sunday when they travel to Mars Hill for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
