SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Freshman forward Jamie Ritchie (Remington, VA/Liberty) scored a goal and assisted on another to help lift Shepherd College to a 3-0 victory over University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown in men's soccer action at Ram Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Shepherd grabbed a 1-0 lead on a goal by Eric Brown (Harpers Ferry, WV/Jefferson) on an assist from Ritchie at the 1:00 mark of the first half.
The Rams added two second half goals when Ritchie scored on a cross from Ray Williams (Ashton, MD/Sherwood) at the 79:00 mark and Dan Merold (Oak Hill, VA/Oakton) scored with an assist from Carlos Hernandez (Clifton, VA/Centreville) at the 84:00 mark.
Pat Quinn (Germantown, MD/Good Counsel) and Robert Pence (Woodbridge, VA/Woodbridge) combined for the shutout in goal for the Rams. Quinn recorded four saves, while Pence added one. Bryan Rossin and Jesse Aultz combined for seven saves for the Mountain Cats.
Shepherd improves to 3-0, while UPJ falls to 0-4.
The Rams return to action on September 15 when they travel to Alderson-Broaddus for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
