21ST-RANKED SHEPHERD BLANKS CHARLESTON, 4-0

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Junior forward Richard Smith (Gaithersburg, MD/Magruder HS) scored a pair of goals to lead 21st-ranked Shepherd University to a 4-0 win over University of Charleston in WVIAC men's soccer action at Charleston on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman forward Emmanuel Elomobor (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook HS) and freshman midfielder Guilherme Fonseca (Guaraja, Brazil/Objetivo School) also added goals for the Rams.

The win was the eighth shutout victory for the Rams this season.

Shepherd improves to 15-2-1, 5-2-0 in WVIAC action, while Charleston falls to 4-13-1, 3-3-1. The Rams return to action on Sunday when they host Pitt-Johnstown for a 2:00 p.m. game.

Notes: Shepherd clinched a share of the mythical WVIAC regular season title with the win. The 5-2-0 conference mark is the best in program history.
