SHEPHERD MEN'S SOCCER BATTLES TO 1-1 TIE WITH SALEM INTERNATIONAL

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Junior midfielder Leighton Meredith (Clarendon, Jamaica/Glenmuir) scored on assists from freshman defender/midfielder Michael Allen (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge) and sophomore midfielder Guilherme Fonseca (Guaraja, Brazil/Objetivo School) at the 24:00 mark to help Shepherd University earn a 1-1 with Salem International University tie in men's soccer action at Shepherd on Saturday afternoon.

Salem International took a 1-0 lead at the 14:00 mark when they scored on an own goal.

The game was a hard-fought contest that featured nine yellow cards and a red card.

Sophomore Baboucarr Njie (Banjul, The Gambia/Marina International School) had five saves in goal for the Rams.

Shepherd moves to 6-4-2, 2-0-1 in conference play, while Salem International is now 1-8-1, 1-2-1. The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Gallaudet for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
