SHEPHERD FALLS TO TIGERS, 5-3

SALEM, W.Va. -- Shepherd University dropped a 5-3 decision to Salem International in WVIAC men's soccer action at Salem on Saturday.

Junior forward Richard Smith (Gaithersburg, MD/Magruder HS) scored a pair of goals and assisted on another to pace the Ram attack. Smith scored on a penalty kick and later scored on a feed from senior forward Jose Ventura (Washington, DC/Archbishop Carroll HS) to help the Rams take a 2-1 lead into halftime.

Salem answered back with four second half tallies to gain the win. Shepherd's lone goal in the second half came from junior defender Bernard Walters (Waterford, Jamaica/Camperdown) with the aid of a Smith assist.

No other game details were available.

Shepherd falls to 11-2-1, while Salem International improves to 6-3-1, 4-0-0. The Rams return to action next Sunday when they travel to West Virginia Wesleyan for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
