SALEM INTERNATIONAL BLANKS SHEPHERD

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Milan Rakic scored a pair of goals and assisted on another to lead Salem International University to a 3-0 win over Shepherd University in men's soccer action at Shepherd on Sunday afternoon.

Salem opened the scoring when Marvin Huber scored on a feed from Rakic at the 22:30 mark to take a 1-0 lead.

The Tigers took a 2-0 advantage at the half when Rakic scored on an assist from Huber at the 40:00 mark. Rakic added an insurance goal at the 60:00 mark on an unassisted tally.

Aaron Hunte had four saves in goal in a shutout effort for Salem International. Junior keeper Robert Pence (Woodbridge, VA/Woodbridge HS) had five saves and freshman Baboucarr Njie (Banjul, The Gambia/Marina International School) added three for the Rams.

Shepherd falls to 3-2-1, 0-1 in WVIAC play, while Salem International improves to 2-4, 1-0.

The Rams return to action on Thursday when they travel to Wheeling Jesuit for a 4:00 p.m. match.
