SHEPHERD MEN'S SOCCER DOWNS SHIPPENSBURG IN OVERTIME

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Senior defender Bernard Walters (Waterford, Jamaica/Camperdown) scored on an assist from sophomore midfielder Guilherme Fonseca (Guaraja, Brazil/Objetivo School) with six seconds left in the first overtime period to lift Shepherd University to a 4-3 win over Shippensburg University in men's soccer action at David See Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Shepherd took a 2-0 lead into the break as senior defender Mikus Rubenis (Gulbene, Latvia/Mercersburg Academy) scored on a feed from Fonseca at the 14:11 mark and Fonseca scored at the 26:54 mark off a pass from freshman defender/midfielder Michael Allen (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge).

Shippensburg got on the board at the 65:48 Brad Jaindl scored on an assist from Kevin Freeman. Less than a minute later the Red Raiders tied the game at 2-2 when Geoff Bloes scored on a penalty kick.

Sophomore forward Emmanuel Elomobor (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) scored an unassisted goal at the 76:14 mark to give the Rams a 3-2 advantage.

The Red Raiders scored on an own goal at the 85:00 mark to force the extra session.

Sophomore Baboucarr Njie (Banjul, The Gambia/Marina International School) had 11 saves in goal for the Rams, while Jon Humerick had 13 saves for the Red Raiders.

Shepherd improves to 6-4-1, while Shippensburg drops to 4-8-0. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Salem International for a 1 p.m. contest.
