SHEPHERD GOES TO 2-0 WITH WIN OVER MARYMOUNT

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Freshman forward Jamie Ritchie (Remington, VA/Liberty) scored a pair of goals and assisted on another to help lift Shepherd College to a 4-3 victory over Marymount University in men's soccer action at Ram Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Marymount grabbed a 1-0 lead on a goal from Justin Kessler at the 43:06 mark of the first half.

Shepherd tied the score at 1-1 when Ritchie took a feed from freshman midfielder Chad Guthrie (Centreville, VA/Centreville) at the 16:20 mark.

The Saints took a 2-1 lead into the intermission when Kessler scored his second goal with just over two minutes left in the half.

Marymount increased its lead to 3-1 on a goal from Ameen Katib with 40:50 left in regulation.

The Rams cut the lead to 3-2 when Ritchie scored on a feed from freshman midfielder Ian Newman (Kingston, Jamaica) at the 28:21 mark.

Shepherd tied the score at 3-3 when senior captain Kris Goodwin (Leesburg, VA/Loundoun County (Nova CC) scored with an assist from freshman defender Ray Williams (Ashton, MD/Sherwood) at the 19:07 mark.

Freshman midfielder Dan Merold (Oak Hill, VA/Oakton) scored the game-winning goal with help from Ritchie at the 11:23 mark.

Sophomore Pat Quinn (Germantown, MD)/Good Counsel) recorded five saves in goal for the Rams, while Brian Craddock and John Maceda combined for eight saves for the Saints.

Shepherd improves to 2-0, while Marymount falls to 0-3.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown at 2:00 p.m.
