RAMS IMPROVE TO 3-0 WITH 4-1 WIN OVER MARYMOUNT

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Freshman midfielder Guilherme Fonseca (Guaruja, Brazil/Objetivo School) scored a pair of goals and assisted on another to lead Shepherd University to a 4-1 win over host Marymount University on Thursday night.

Junior forward Richard Smith (Gaithersburg, MD/Magruder HS) scored the game's first goal on an assist from Fonseca at the 18:05 mark to give the Rams a 1-0 lead at the half.

Fonseca followed with goals at the 55:12 and 56:20 marks. Sophomore midfielder Alie Basma (Frederick, MD/Thomas Johnson/Frederick CC) assisted on the first goal, while senior forward Jamie Richie (Remington, VA/Liberty HS) assisted on the other.

Junior forward Nathan Tobler (Lucketts, VA/Loudoun County HS) added Shepherd's final score at the 78:15 mark on a feed from sophomore midfielder Jinho Kim (Boyds, MD/Gaithersburg HS).

Marymount scored its only goal on a penalty kick with 37 seconds remaining in the game.

Shepherd improves to 3-0, while Marymount falls to 1-3. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Presbyterian for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
