MCDANIEL HANDS SHEPHERD 3-0 LOSS IN SEASON OPENER WESTMINSTER, MD -- Dawn Fletcher scored a pair of goals to lead McDaniel College to a 3-0 win over Shepherd University in women's soccer action at McDaniel in the season opener for both schools on Friday. The Green Terror took a 1-0 lead at the 9:21 mark when Nikki Varoutsos scored an unassisted tally. McDaniel got a pair of second half goals from Fletcher to seal the win. Tara Healy assisted on the first goal at the 55:33 mark and Fletcher added an unassisted score at the 69:45 mark. Freshman Amy Bell (Frederick, MD/Linganore HS) had six saves in goal for the Rams, while Michelle Mullen recorded a shutout without making a save for the Green Terror. Shepherd falls to 0-1 on the season, while McDaniel improves to 1-0. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Bridgewater for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
