HICKORY, NC -- Shepherd University and Lenoir-Rhyne battled to a 1-1 tie in men's soccer action at Bears Field on Saturday afternoon. The tie leaves L-R at 6-4-2 on the year while Rams are now 6-3-4.

Shepherd opened the scoring at 41:16 when Donald Fon (Silver Spring, MD/ Montgomery Blair HS) launched a shot just out of the box from the right side past Lenoir-Rhyne goalkeeper Jonathan Sandlin and into the net for the lead.

L-R quickly tied it at one thanks to senior midfielder Chris Penley's fifth goal of the year a little over two minutes later (43:26).
