HOWARD EDGES SHEPHERD, 2-1

WASHINGTON, DC --The Shepherd University men's soccer team wrapped up its 2004 spring season with a 2-1 loss to Howard University at Howard on Saturday.

Howard took a 1- 0 lead in the 30th minute. The Rams tied the game up in the 41st minute when Jamie Ritchie (Remington, VA/Liberty HS) scored off assists from Ian Newman (Campion HS/Kingston, Jamaica) and Richard Smith (Gaithersburg, MD/Magruder HS).

Howard scored the final goal of the contest after a goal mouth scramble in the closing minutes of the game.

Head coach Joseph Okoh stated that the team gained valuable experience by competing against a Division I school and a professional team during the spring season. "I feel the guys really worked hard all spring and played very well against very tough competition. I know all the players are looking forward to the upcoming fall season."

The Rams complete another successful spring season with a 2-1 record.
