Junior forward Donald Fon (Silver Spring, MD/Montgomery Blair HS) and sophomore midfielder Dan Merold (Oak Hill, VA/Oakton HS) each tallied a goal and an assist to pace the Rams. Shepherd drew first blood 4:39 into the contest when sophomore defender Mikus Rubenis (Gulbene, Latvia/Mercersburg Academy) fired a shot in from point-blank range. Sophomore midfielder JJ Flores (Woodbridge, VA/Gar-Field HS) found the back of the net less than two minutes later, giving the Rams an early 2-0 lead.
