SHEPHERD EDGES EMU, 3-2

HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Freshman forward Emmanuel Elomobor (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook HS) scored an unassisted goal at the 79:56 mark to lift 20th-ranked Shepherd University to a 3-2 win over Eastern Mennonite in men's soccer action at Eastern Mennonite on Thursday.

Benjamin Yoder scored at the 7:57 mark on an assist from Junior Kamandua to give Eastern Mennonite a 1-0 lead.

Shepherd took a 2-1 lead into halftime. Senior forward Jamie Ritchie (Remington, VA/Liberty HS) scored at the 24:00 mark on feeds from freshman midfielder Guilherme Fonseca (Guaraja, Brazil/Objetivo School) and junior forward Richard Smith (Gaithersburg, MD/Magruder HS). Smith added an unassisted goal at the 54:57 mark.

Eastern Mennonite tied the game at 2-2 on Yoder's second tally of the game at the 57:52 mark on a feed from Nathan Mishler to set the stage for Elomobor's game-winning goal.

Senior netminder Pat Quinn (Germantown, MD/Good Counsel HS) recorded three saves for the Rams. Tim Koehn had six saves in goal for Eastern Mennonite.

Shepherd improves to 11-1-1, while Eastern Mennonite drops to 6-6-1. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Salem International for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
