FONSECA LIFTS SHEPHERD MEN'S SOCCER PAST ALDERSON-BROADDUS PHILIPPI, W.Va. - Sophomore midfielder Guilherme Fonseca (Guaruja, Brazil/Objetivo School) scored the game-winning goal at the 89:00 mark to lift Shepherd to a 3-2 win over host Alderson-Broaddus in WVIAC men's soccer action on Tuesday. Senior forward Nathan Tobler (Lucketts, VA/Loudoun County) and senior defender Jon Goetz (Kingsville, MD/ Perry Hall) also tallied goals for the Rams. Isreal Toko recorded a pair of goals for the Battlers. Sophomore goalkeeper Baboucarr Njie (Banjul, The Gambia/Marina International School) had six saves for the Rams, while David Harvey had six stops for the Battlers. Shepherd improves to 3-2-1, 2-0-0 in WVIAC action, while Alderson-Broaddus falls to 1-2-1, 0-1-1. The Rams return to action on Friday when they host Lincoln Memorial for a 4:00 p.m. contest. |
