SHEPHERD RALLIES PAST WESLEYAN

BUCKHANNON, W. Va. -- Mark Jennings (North County (Hagerstown CC)/Glen Burnie, MD) scored a game-high 30 points to lead Shepherd College to an 81-73 win over West Virginia Wesleyan in WVIAC men's basketball action on Saturday at Wesleyan.

Shepherd (11-16, 8-10) outscored Wesleyan 43-32 in the second half after trailing 40-38 at the half.

Jennings connected on 10-of-20 shots, including 5-of-7 from three-point range. He also grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds. Keith Fanjoy (Hammond (Howard CC)/Columbia, MD) added 22 points and eight boards, while Kevin Newsome (Archbishop Carroll/Washington, DC) had seven points and a game-high seven assists. Newsome became the sixth player in program history to reach the 400 assist mark. His 403 career assists currently rank him fifth on the Shepherd all-time list.

West Virginia Wesleyan (9-16, 8-10) was led by Richard Lindsey with 17 points and Aswan Morris with 15. Lindsey also hauled down a game-high 11 rebounds. Rodney Anderson and Zach Comer chipped in with 11 points apiece.

The Rams await word on seeding for Tuesday's first round action of the WVIAC Tournament.
