RAMS FALL TO TECH

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Tyler Dodd scored a game-high 24 points to lead WVU Tech to a 90-69 win over Shepherd University in first round action of the WVIAC Men's Basketball Tournament at the Butcher Center on Tuesday night.

Dodd hit on 10-of-18 shots from the floor and was 3-for-5 from three-point range.

Ronnie Means and Rodney Mayes added 14 points each, while Anthony Stowe had 10. Stowe grabbed a game-high nine rebounds, while Means dished out a game-high six assists.

Junior forward Danley Shank (Pond Bank, PA/Chambersburg HS) scored a team-high 16 points to pace the Rams. Shank connected on 6-of-12 shots from the floor and was 3-for-3 from the charity stripe.

Senior guard Ron Rheinhardt (Bowie, MD/Archbishop Carroll HS) added 14 points and tied junior forward Darren Stackhouse (Alexandria, VA/Garrett CC) for team-high rebounding honors with six boards. Junior center Ryan Peterson (Columbia, MO/North Central Missouri) added 13 points, five rebounds, and three blocked shots.

Tech shot 50 percent (33-66) from the floor and held a 39-31 rebounding advantage. The Golden Bears shot 56.3 percent (9-16) from three-point range, while limiting the Rams to a 25 percent (3-12) performance from beyond the arc.

Shepherd ends its season at 12-16, while WVU Tech improves to 12-14. The Golden Bears will face Salem International on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Charleston.
