SHEPHERD RALLY FALLS SHORT

Mark Jennings scored a game-high 23 points against West Liberty.

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Brice Mills scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead West Liberty to a 71-67 win over Shepherd College in WVIAC men's basketball action at the Butcher Athletic Center on Monday night.

Shepherd rallied to get to within three points at 68-65 on a three-pointer by Mark Jennings (North County (Hagerstown CC)/Glen Burnie, MD) with 2:16 left in the game, but the Hilltoppers hit 3-of-4 free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

Jennings led the Rams with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Ron Rheinhardt (Archbishop Carroll/Bowie, MD) added 12 points, while Kevin Newsome (Archbishop Carroll/Washington, DC) handed out nine assists.

Seth Hoyng added 15 points and Corey McDuffie had 13 for the Hilltoppers. Hoyng also had nine assists.

Shepherd falls to 5-6, 2-1 in WVIAC action, while West Liberty improves to 3-5, 1-1. The Rams return to action on Thursday when they travel to Salem International for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
