WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. -- Demond Tapscott's (Fauquier/Warrenton, VA) game-high 27 points were not enough as West Liberty handed Shepherd College an 83-79 overtime loss in WVIAC men's basketball action on Monday night.
Tapscott connected on 9-of-21 shots, including 5-of-13 from three-point range. He also added six rebounds and five steals. Ryan Jones (Banneker/Washington, DC) added 17 points on an 8-of-17 shooting performance, while Phil Stewart (The Heights School/New Carrollton, MD) was also in double figures with 10 points. Keith Davis (Berkeley Springs (Mercersburg Academy)/Berkeley Springs, WV) led all Ram rebounders with eight boards.
The Hilltoppers outscored Shepherd, 13-9, in the extra session to gain the win.
Michael Jebbia led the Hilltoppers with 25 points. Brad Ring added 19 points and Brice Mills had 10 points to go along with his game-high 19 rebounds.
The Rams fall to 4-5, 2-1 in conference action, while the West Liberty improves to 5-5, 2-1. Shepherd returns to action on Thursday when it hosts Salem International for a 8:00 p.m. contest.
