SHEPHERD GOES TO 2-0 IN CONFERENCE ACTION

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV -- Junior forward Danley Shank (Pond Bank, PA/Chambersburg HS) scored a game-high 24 points to lead Shepherd University to an 88-76 win over Wheeling Jesuit in WVIAC men's basketball action at Shepherd on Saturday night.

Shank connected on 8-of-19 shots, including a scorching 6-of-8 from three-point range. He also grabbed seven rebounds.

Freshman guard Thomas Carr (Toledo, OH/ Hargrave Military Academy) added 17 points, while sophomore guard Yves Moliva (Cameroon/Southeast (NE) CC) had 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Junior forward Darren Stackhouse (Alexandria, VA/ Garrett CC) poured in 13 points and hauled down eight rebounds.

Jose Gonzalez had 18 points and nine rebounds to pace the Cardinals. Ricky Yahn added 14 points, while James Watts and Matt Plunkett each had 12.

Wheeling Jesuit closed to within four points at 78-74 on a three-pointer by Gonzalez with 2:12 remaining in the game. The Rams closed the contest on a 10-2 run -- fueled by six-of-six effort from the free throw line.

Shepherd moves to 4-7 overall, 2-0 in WVIAC play, while Wheeling Jesuit falls to 7-4, 1-1. The Rams return to action on Monday when they host West Liberty for an 8:00 p.m. contest.
