JOHNSTOWN, PA -- Eugene Wilson scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown to an 83-75 win over Shepherd College in men's basketball action at Pitt Johnstown on Thursday night.
All five Mountain Cat starters hit for double figures. Dashi Leon (15 points), Paul Byer (14), Nick Mezyk (12) and Marc Falcone (10) joined Wilson as Pitt Johnstown shot nearly 58 percent from the floor.
Mark Jennings (North County (Hagerstown CC)/Glen Burnie, MD) scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Rams. Ron Rheinhardt (Archbishop Carroll/ Bowie, MD) added 17 points on a 7-of-11 shooting performance, including a 2-for-3 effort from three-point range. He also added seven rebounds in only 27 minutes of action. Keith Davis (Berkeley Springs (Mercersburg Academy)/Berkeley Springs, WV) had 14 points and a team-high eight boards, while Dorian Sims (Reading Central Catholic/Reading, PA) chipped in with 11 points.
The Rams fall to 3-3, while Pitt Johnstown improves to 5-4. The Rams returns to action on Saturday when they host Bowie State for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
Shepherd Notes: Area youngsters will have an opportunity to experience the college game-day atmosphere when Shepherd College hosts NCAA Basketball's annual Take a Kid to the Game (TAKG) program, for the women's game on December 20 and the men's contest on December 21. Kids, seven and older, will be able to purchase a general admission ticket for $1.00 with the purchase of a full-priced adult ticket, to watch the Rams take on UDC on December 20 at 6:00 p.m. (women's game) and Bowie State on December 21 at 2:00 p.m. (men's game) at the Butcher Athletic Center. Children six and under will be admitted free.
