CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Carl Edwards scored 22 points to lead No.4-ranked University of Charleston to a 79-66 win over Shepherd College in men's basketball action at Charleston.
Derek Jones added 17 points, and Kyle Bixler chipped in 13 for the Golden Eagles.
Shepherd got a game-high 24-point effort from Phil Stewart (The Heights School/ New Carrollton, MD). Kevin Newsome (Archbishop Carroll/Washington, DC) added 13 points, seven assists, and two steals, while Keith Davis (Berkeley Springs (Mercersburg Academy)/Berkeley Springs, WV) hauled down a game-high 11 rebounds.
Shepherd falls to 5-9, 3-5 in conference action, while Charleston improves to 14-1, 6-0. The Rams return to action on Thursday when they host Bluefield State for an 8:00 p.m. contest at the Butcher Athletic Center.
