STATE DEFEATS RAMS INSTITUTE, WV -- West Virginia State had five players score in double figures en route to a 99-82 win over Shepherd College in WVIAC men's basketball action at State on Monday night. Danley Shank (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg HS) continued to have a hot hand for the Rams as he posted game-highs of 32 points and 12 rebounds. Shank hit on 9-of-17 shots from the floor and was a perfect 13-of-13 from the free throw line. Mark Jennings (Glen Burnie, MD/North County HS/Hagerstown CC) added 19 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Mike Taylor scored 22 points to lead State. Also in double figures for the Yellow Jackets were Christopher Dunn (16 points), Jason Beller (15), Tony Cornett (14) and Dermayne Bullock (11). Dunn also handed out a game-high 12 assists. Shepherd falls to 9-9 overall, 6-5 in conference play, while West Virginia State improves to 15-4, 8-2. The Rams will be back in action on Thursday when they host Ohio Valley for a 8:00 p.m. conference game. |
