RAMS FALL TO SALEM INTERNATIONAL
SALEM, W.Va. -- Despite a game-high 26-point effort from junior forward Danley Shank (Pond Bank, PA/Chambersburg HS), Salem International held off Shepherd University for a 71-57 win in WVIAC men's basketball action at Salem on Thursday night.
Shank connected on 8-of-17 shots, including 4-of-6 from three-point range. He also added five rebounds, three assists, two blocked shots, and two steals.
Junior forward Darren Stackhouse (Alexandria, VA/Garrett CC) poured in 13 points for the Rams.
Demetrius Harris scored 12 points, David Watson added 11, while Stanley Milien had 10 to pace the Tigers. Watson also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds and dished out four assists.
Shepherd trailed by only five points at the half at 32-27. A cold shooting effort of 38 percent (8-21) in the second half, coupled with a 60 percent (15-25) shooting effort by the Tigers, prevented the Rams from pulling off the upset.
Shepherd falls to 4-9 overall, 2-2 in WVIAC play, while Salem International improves to 9-3, 3-1. The Rams conclude their two-game road trip on Saturday when they travel to Fairmont State for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
