SHEPHERD FALLS TO 14TH-RANKED SALEM INTERNATIONAL

SALEM, W.Va. -- Wykeen Kelly scored a game-high 22 points to lift Salem International to an 85-75 win over Shepherd College in WVIAC men's basketball action at Salem on Thursday night.

Kelly connected on 7-of-13 shots from the floor and was 3-of-6 from three-point range. Jason Dunham added 17 points, Dominique Liverpool had 13, and Chucky Fine had 10. Fine and Kelly tied for game-high assists honors with 10 each.

Phil Stewart (The Heights School/New Carrolton, MD) scored 16 points to lead the Rams. Dorian Sims (Reading Central Catholic/Reading, PA) broke out of a recent scoring slump with 14 points, and Mark Jennings (North County (Hagerstown CC)/Glen Burnie, MD) added 12. Jennings also dished out a team-best five assists and tied Keith Davis (Berkeley Springs (Mercersburg Academy)/Berkeley Springs, WV) with a team-high five rebounds.

Both teams shot over 50 percent from the floor for the game, but Salem held a 35-20 rebound advantage. The Tigers also sunk 21-of-26 free throws, while Shepherd drained 6-of-8 shots from the charity stripe.

Shepherd falls to 5-7, 2-2 in conference action, while Salem International improves to 11-2, 4-0. The Rams continue on the road to face Fairmont State on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
