PFEIFFER OUTLASTS SHEPHERD
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. --Rico and DeMario Grier combined for 35 points to lead Pfeiffer University to a 91-85 win over Shepherd College in the championship game of the Clarion Hotel Tipoff Tournament at the Butcher Athletic Center on Sunday.
Rico Grier had a team-high 19 points for the Falcons and Demario Grier added 16. Anthony Williams had 15, while Lamont Keaton chipped in with 10.
Shepherd was led by Mark Jennings (Glen Burnie, MD/North County HS/Hagerstown CC) with game-highs of 26 points and 10 rebounds. Danley Shank (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg HS) added 17 points. Ross Mitchell (Yorktown, VA/York HS) and Laurynas Inokaitis (Kaunas, Lithuania/Miller (VA) School) recorded eight points each.
Shepherd falls to 1-2, while Pfeiffer improves to 3-0. The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Shippensburg University for an 8:00 p.m. contest.
Kutztown University downed Columbia Union College, 78-61, in the consolation game setback behind 18 points from T. J. Mann. Raymond Strachan had a game-high 20 points for the Pioneers.
