GLENVILLE, W.Va. -- Tyrone McCann scored a team-high 26 points to lead Glenville to a 77-75 win over Shepherd College in WVIAC men's basketball action at Glenville on Thursday night.
McCann drained 12-of-16 shots from the floor for the Pioneers. Jacob Tolley added 14 points, while Dominque Liverpool recorded a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Shepherd gained a 43-40 halftime lead behind a 15-of-29 (.517) shooting effort. Glenville answered back in the second half with a 13-of-23 (.565) performance from the floor.
Demond Tapscott (Fauquier/Warrenton, VA) led all scorers with 28 points. Tapscott connected on 11-of-18 shots, including 6-of-10 from three-point range. Ryan Jones (Banneker/ Washington, DC) added 19 points, while Keith Davis (Berkeley Springs (Mercersburg Academy)/Berkeley Springs, WV) scored 13 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
Tapscott reached the 1,000 point scoring mark with his 28-point outburst. He moved past Ronnie Fitzpatrick (1,004 points) to rank 31st on the Shepherd all-time scoring list.
Shepherd falls to 10-13, 7-9 in conference action, while Glenville improves to 13-10, 11-4. The Rams return to action on Monday when they travel to Columbia Union for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
