RAMS EDGED BY FLORIDA SOUTHERN

LAKELAND, FL -- Ellery Boykin scored 23 points to lead Florida Southern to a 65-59 win over Shepherd University in men's basketball action at the Florida Southern Holiday Classic on Wednesday night.

Boykin hit on 10-of-15 shots for the Moccasins. Kenny Ebanyat added 12 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, while Reggie Richardson added 10 points.

Junior forward Danley Shank (Pond Bank, PA/Chambersburg HS) scored a game-high 25 points to pace the Rams. Shank connected on 10-of-23 shots from the floor, including 4-of-9 from three-point range.

Junior center Ryan Peterson (Columbia, MO/North Central Missouri) added 12 points, while junior forward Darren Stackhouse (Alexandria, VA/Garrett CC) posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Rams rallied late in the contest to get to within four points at 59-55 with 1:11 remaining on a layup by sophomore guard Yves Moliva (Cameroon/Southeast (NE) CC). Florida Southern hit all six free throw attempts in the game's final minute to claim the win.

Shepherd falls to 3-6, while Florida Southern improves to 10-0. The Rams return to action on Thursday when they face Montevallo at 5:30 p.m. in final day classic action.
