MYERS, SHANK LEAD SHEPHERD PAST SENATORS

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Junior guard Chad Myers (Vinton, VA/Hargrave Military Academy) scored 21 points and junior forward Danley Shank (Pond Bank, PA/Chambersburg HS) added 20 to lead Shepherd University to an 84-67 win over Davis & Elkins in WVIAC men's basketball action at Shepherd on Saturday.

Myers was 6-of-11 from the floor, including a 5-of-8 performance from beyond the arc. He was also 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Shank hit on 5-of-12 shots from the floor and sank 10-of-12 free throws.

Junior forward Darren Stackhouse (Alexandria, VA/Garrett CC) added 16 points and eight rebounds, while junior center Ryan Peterson (Columbia, MO/North Central Missouri) had 13 points. Freshman guard Thomas Carr (Toledo, OH/ Hargrave Military Academy) contributed a fine all-around effort with six points, seven rebounds, and a game-high seven assists.

Ellis Hopkins and Bobby Alexander each poured in 18 points to lead the Senators. Jelani Jackson added 10 points. Alex Olson tied Hopkins and Stackhouse for game-high rebounding honors with eight.

Shepherd improves to 10-13 overall, 8-6 in conference action, while Davis & Elkins falls to 3-19, 0-14. The Rams return to action on Monday when they host West Virginia Wesleyan for an 8:00 p.m. contest.
