RAMS WIN CONFERENCE OPENER

ELKINS, W.Va. -- Mark Jennings (North County (Hagerstown CC)/Glen Burnie, MD) scored a game-high 21 points to lead Shepherd College to an 83-77 win over Davis & Elkins in WVIAC men's basketball action on Saturday.

Keith Fanjoy (Hammond (Howard CC)/Columbia, MD) added 18 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks. Keith Davis (Berkeley Springs (Mercersburg Academy)/Berkeley Springs, WV) had a team-high 14 rebounds, while Kevin Newsome (Archbishop Carroll/Washington, DC) led the Rams with nine assists.

The Rams gained a 46-33 halftime advantage and held off the Senators in the second half for the victory. The Rams connected on 25-of-29 free throws, including an 8-for-8 performance in the game's final minute to seal the win.

Chris Sutton led the Senators with 20 points.

Shepherd improves to 4-4, 1-0, while Davis & Elkins falls to 0-7, 0-3. The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Newport News Apprentice at 7:00 p.m.
