ELKINS, W.Va. -- Demond Tapscott (Fauquier/Warrenton, VA) scored a game-high 25 points to lead Shepherd College to an 80-67 win over Davis & Elkins in WVIAC men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.
Tapscott connected on 8-of-17 shots, including 5-of-10 from three-point range. He also had five assists and four steals. Ryan Jones (Banneker/Washington, DC) added 22 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Keith Davis (Berkeley Springs(Mercersburg Academy)/Berkeley Springs, WV) chipped in with 14 points and seven rebounds.
Trailing by one point at halftime (34-33), Shepherd outscored the Senators, 47-33, in the second stanza to gain the win. The Rams sealed the win on the free throw line by sinking 18-of-22 foul shots in the second half.
Mike Miller scored 15 points and Jabari Ray had 14 to lead Davis & Elkins.
The Rams improve to 10-11, 7-7 in conference action, while Davis & Elkins falls to 7-14, 4-10. Shepherd remains on the road to face West Virginia Wesleyan on Monday for an 8:00 p.m. contest.
