SHEPHERD RUNS PAST COLUMBIA UNION

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Brady Catlett (Hedgesville, WV Hedgesville HS/New Hampshire) scored a team-high 21 points to lead Shepherd College to a 103-82 win over Columbia Union in men's basketball action in the first round of the Clarion Hotel Tipoff Tournament at the Butcher Athletic Center on Saturday.

Catlett connected on 8-of-13 shots, including 3-of-6 from three-point range.

Chad Myers (Vinton, VA/Hargrave Military Academy) poured in a career-high 18 points behind a 5-of-8 shooting effort from three-point range. Mark Jennings (Glen Burnie, MD/North County HS/Hagerstown CC) added 17 points, Esosa Imoisili (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial HS/Howard CC) had 12, while Laurynas Inokaitis (Kaunas, Lithuania/Miller (VA) School) and Danley Shank (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg HS) chipped in with 10 apiece. Shank also grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds, Imoisili recorded seven blocked shots, and Ross Mitchell (Yorktown, VA/York HS) dished out nine assists.

Michael Gordon scored a game-high 26 points to lead Columbia Union. Gordon connected on 8-of-16 three-pointers. His eight treys ties the Butcher Center record set by Demond Tapscott in on 2002.

Shepherd improves to 1-1, while Columbia Union falls to 0-3. Shepherd advances to face Pfeiffer University in the championship game at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Pfeiffer University handed Kutztown University a 98-87 setback behind a game-high 39 points from Kenny Mickens.
