CONCORD EDGES SHEPHERD
ATHENS, W.Va. -- Lewis Muse scored a game-high 27 points to lead Concord to an 81-77 win over Shepherd University in WVIAC men's basketball action at Concord on Saturday night.
Muse also grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Mountain Lions in that category. Cedric Ganaway added 19 points, while Anthony Lansdowne had 11.
The loss overshadowed a fine performance by Shepherd junior forward Darren Stackhouse (Alexandria, VA/Garrett CC). Stackhouse scored a career-high 26 points with a 10-of-11 outing from the floor and a 6-of-8 effort at the free throw line. He also tied Muse with a game-high eight rebounds, while also recording four steals, two assists, and a blocked shot.
Junior forward Danley Shank (Pond Bank, PA/Chambersburg HS) added 22 points, five boards, and a team-high three assists. Senior guard Ron Rheinhardt (Bowie, MD/Archbishop Carroll HS) poured in 10 points, while junior guard Chad Myers (Vinton, VA/Hargrave Military Academy) added nine points with three treys.
Shepherd falls to 7-12 overall, 5-5 in WVIAC play, while Concord improves to 11-5, 6-2. The Rams return home on to host West Virginia State for an 8:00 p.m. contest.
