CONCORD KNOCKS OFF SHEPHERD
ATHENS, W.Va. -- Josh Lavere scored a game-high 20 points to lead Concord College to a 66-58 win over Shepherd College in WVIAC men's basketball action on Saturday.
Lavere hit on 7-of-16 shots, including a 5-of-10 performance from three-point range. Brian Atkins added 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Chris Nichols tallied 16 points for Concord (5-13, 2-7). Mark Jennings (North County (Hagerstown CC)/Glen Burnie, MD) led Shepherd (6-12, 3-7) with 12 points. Dorian Sims (Reading Central Catholic/Reading, PA) and Keith Fanjoy (Hammond (Howard CC)/Columbia, MD) each added nine points, while Kevin Newsome (Archbishop Carroll/Washington, DC) hauled down a team-high nine rebounds to go along with a game-high six steals, seven points, and four assists. The Rams return to action on Monday when they host West Virginia State at 7:00 p.m.
