RAMS DEFEAT BLUEFIELD STATE IN OT

BLUEFIELD, W.Va -- Mark Jennings (North County (Hagerstown CC)/Glen Burnie, MD) scored a game-high 25 points to lead Shepherd College to a 71-59 overtime win over Bluefield State in WVIAC men's basketball action at Bluefield on Thursday night. The win snapped a six-game losing skid for the Rams.

Jennings connected on 9-of-21 shots and 6-of-6 free throws to pace the Rams (6-11, 3-6). Keith Davis (Berkeley Springs (Mercersburg Academy)/Berkeley Springs, WV) added 14 points and a team-high 12 rebounds, while Dorian Sims (Reading Central Catholic/Reading, PA) was also in double figures with 10 points. Kevin Newsome (Archbishop Carroll/Washington, DC) added a fine all-around effort with nine points, seven rebounds, seven steals, and three assists.

Bluefield State (4-13, 2-6) was led by James Redd and Marcus Clements with 14 points apiece. Jarrod Patterson added a game-high 13 rebounds.

Shepherd continues on the road to face Concord on Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
